In the wake of hurricane Charley  I traveled to the town of Lake Wales, where the community was in a state of organized chaos.  Florida Governor Jeb Bush made a quick stop through for the press, and although it was clear the area would be rebuilding for years to come, there was optimism for the future.

This story, which originally aired on WMNF radio in August of 2004, won 2nd Place in the Hurricane News category of the 2004 Mid Florida Society of Professional Journalists Excellence in Journalism awards.
