In the wake of the shooting of Oscar Grant in Oakland, CA, the community called for civilian oversight of the BART police.  This program looks at this and many similar struggles to make local law enforcement accountable.

This documentary, which aired on Making Contact, received awards for best explanatory journalism from the Northern California Society of Professional Journalists, and from the National Council on Crime and Delinquency.

It was also part of a crowd-funded journalism project, with an accompanying print piece published on spot.us
